L'INSPIRATION DEUX

Inspiration--> So I wanted to do at least one more inspiration post before I moved on to something (in my opinion) much more exciting!! Another way that I get inspired is by purchasing and collecting beautiful/pretty things that remind me of something I like or are inspired by something else I like. A more recent inspirational and impulse buy were the two items pictured below. I couldn't break from the topic without sharing these totally gorgeous little cans with you. May I present, the Andy Warhol Campbell's Soup Can in 2 of the color combos available out of four. I purchased the two I loved the most for $1 and they will never be opened because they're too pretty and also I don't like tomoato soup. I know I'm probably a little late to this party (GA seems to be last on the list of getting in new products), but how inspiring are these? Who doesn't love some Andy Warhol? I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this to you before, but I am an impulsive shopper extraordinaire. i.e. I buy everything that I think is too fabulous to pass up and it is almost always bought on a whim. Case in point, these cans, which celebrate the 50th anniversary of Andy Warhol's 1962 iconic artwork, 32 Campbell's Soup Cans. The back offers a very Andy Warhol styled portrait and quotes by the late artist. It also redirects you to join the bigger party at artofsoup.com and tells you they have a Facebook page.
Cool, no? I find these cans to be very inspiring. There's a long list of other inspiring knick knacks, dust collectors and such that I have in my life.. like my little eiffel tower key chain that reminds me of my hopes to live a 1920s Parisian lifestyle in the near future.. or my little ceramic pot I threw Senior year of High School. I was a horrible pot thrower.. but I feel as though I salvaged my very uneven and totally not centered piece by carving these patterns into it and diligently painting it for maximum color coverage in just the right places. These items and many more are the little trinkets of inspiration I keep around me daily because they are beautiful and therefore make my life seem more beautiful. (I feel like a hoarder saying that) So, even if these little items are just for a season and do sit on your desk, go ahead and purchase them and let them be a reminder of the life and all the inspiration you have found in it! ;)
Finally, On a side note, Artists of the past are so inspiring too! Art and Art History in general are a big inspiration to me. As a child I used to grab my mom's giant copies of Sister Wendy's 1000 Masterpieces,Impressionism or History of Art, and look through them for hours. As I got older I began to read the summaries and well the rest is history. I like pop art, but I love Romanticism and love love Impressionism. Shout out to my mother who owned these books and didn't realize what an impact they were making on me from a young age. Love you! In the immortal words of bugs bunny "That's all folks!"

  1. I think those soup cans will live in our office forever! I'm glad you buy things on whims and it inspires you, because I always regret that I talk myself out of buying things!
